My day job as a web developer usually doesn’t provide me with many opportunities to leave my desk, but sometimes I’m in the right place at the right time. I was attending our annual retreat on Quadra Island, and the opportunity presented itself to tag along on a research buoy deployment up Bute Inlet. The buoy itself hosts an array of oceanographic instruments and transmits it’s data back to our labs for study.
